It is interesting to find that one of the top design awards for 2015 given by the Bristol Civic Society is for the new extension of Bishop Road Primary School. This design when first put forward was strongly criticised by the Bishopston Society.
The Civic Society's comment on the design (and on their other design awards) can be seen here.
The Bishopston Society had felt so strongly that the design for the school extension was completely insensitive to and indeed incompatible with the original Victorian building, that it appealed to English Heritage to list the building so that, if this was agreed, the new design would not be permitted to be built.
