David Wallingham, Liberal Democrat councillor for Bishopston ward has drawn our attention to The Channel 4 documentary 'The CCTV Traffic Wardens: Caught On Camera' shown on 25 Nov 2013. He says:
"This programme highlighted unnecessary parking restrictions and the impact this was having on traders. I have created an online petition calling for the council to review the parking restrictions on Gloucester Road so that Traders can derive more benefit from passing trade.
The text of the petition is as follows":
Petition: Fairer parking on Gloucester Road
We the undersigned call upon Bristol City Council to implement fairer parking on Gloucester Road so that independent traders on this "Jewel in Bristol's crown" can derive more benefit from passing trade.
We call upon Bristol City Council to remove peak parking restrictions from all parking bays that do not cause obstruction to traffic lanes of Gloucester Road, including, but not limited to, the bays outside 288 Gloucester Road.
Furthermore we call upon Bristol City Council to implement "tidal" parking on Gloucester Road, and to permit the following:
• Parking on the inbound carriageway during the evening peak.
• Parking on the outbound carriageway during the morning peak.
