In the July 2014 newsletter and on this website (see here), I reported on the initial survey carried out by some of our members and others on a stretch of the Gloucester Road, including the section designated as a Conservation Area.

Some of our readers may have seen an article in the recent ‘Bishopston Voice’ about local artist, Tim Foster who has drawn all the buildings along the stretch of the Gloucester road running from Sommerville Road to Zetland Road.

The Delmonico restaurant is finally 'closing' after 13 years, though it will be merging with (or swallowed by?) the apparently more successful Zazu's Kitchen, just up the road. CloseTheDoor'Close the Door' is a nationally organised campaign aimed at persuading retailers to save energy by closing their doors in cold weather. It has achieved some success along the Gloucester Road but there is more work to be done there.

The BID will now proceed in the southern area only (from Cotham Girl's School to Pig Sty Hill and Zetland etc)

The Gloucester Road Traders Association have secured a personal visit to this area by the Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Chris Leslie MP.

As the holiday season approaches, we can expect even more of a buzz around Bishopston, with high spirits and revelry percolating through the neighbourhood - especially up and down the Gloucester Road, an area particularly well served by bars, restaurants, and  food/alcohol outlets of different kinds.

This will involve the felling of the existing Plane trees, considered to be in an unhealthy state.
