The following information has come from the Bishopston, Cotham and Redland Neighbourhood Partnership:

Local festival - we need your help!

 Dear all,

Thanks again to those of you who participated in this year's "Our Neighbourhood" Community Festival in May.  This was the first festival of its kind in Bishopston, Cotham & Redland and it was great to see such a varied programme of over 40 community activities and events taking place over the week.  We couldn't have done it without you wonderful people, so thank you!

The exciting news is that we've decided to do it again next year!  Same format, same dates (first full week of May = 3rd to 11th), and hopefully a similarly exciting collection of events and activities.  There will be the same 'anchor events' at each end of the week - the Redland May Fair on the bank holiday, and a Super Forum public meeting at the end.  The other parts of the programme will largely be down to people like you - your creativity and leadership to pull together the events and activities you want to run.  We will do our best to stimulate ideas and support you in delivering and marketing your event.

If you've not been involved before but would like to know more, then please get in touch and we'll be happy to tell you about last year's event.

We want to build on the successes of last year and learn from the mistakes, so please do let us have any feedback about what worked and didn't work for you last year, and send us any ideas you have about events or ways of working.  For example, one thing we definitely want to improve on is the marketing of the festival, particularly for those events which are laid on specially and so have few pre-existing supporters.

So please put on your thinking caps - what could you, your group or your organisation put on?  What skills or passions do you or local friends have that could be shared with others?  As before, we are looking for a varied range of events and activities - markets, workshops and community projects, talks and debates, entertainment, demonstrations, walks, taster sessions, exhibitions... you name it!

If you are not willing to put on an event, but are prepared to offer an activity or item as part of another's event, or perhaps in another way (e.g. a raffle prize), do let us know.

Do get in touch - via email or Facebook, give us a ring, or come and see us at one of the regular Neighbourhood Forums (dates on our website: http://www.bcrnp.org.uk/ ).

We're hoping to hold a meeting early in the new year to bounce around ideas, so if you'd like to be involved in that to get (or provide!) some inspiration, look out for more details on this.

And if you'd like to join our committee, you'd be very welcome!
