Memorial groundBristol City Council have been served notice by solicitors for the owners of the Memorial Stadium, that its owners wish to give notice of their intention to sell the war memorial sports ground.

The Memorial Stadium was listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) due to an application by the Bishopston Society, so Bristol City Council have informed the Society of the owners’ intent to dispose of the Asset. The full background to this story is here

The Bishopston Society has not been told the name of the proposed buyer.  Nor have we had any indication of what the proposed buyer might wish to do with the historic sport site.

Under the Localism Act, community interest groups, such as a group of Bristol Rovers FC supporters, are invited to submit written requests to Bristol City Council to be treated as bidders to buy the property.  Any such request must be submitted to Bristol City Council before 25th January 2016.  Further information about the ‘community right to bid’ is available on the council’s website.
