The Civic commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day this year is on Wednesday January 27th at Old Council House on Corn Street on the 2016 theme of 'Don't Stand By.'
Members of diverse local communities, including fellow Bristolians of Pakistani, Somali and Zimbabwean origins, as well as 2nd and 3rd generation survivors, will share how they have experienced being supported or indeed have supported others in times of personal survival and duress.
During the refreshments break on the 27th, you will be able to speak with stallholders from a variety of organisations working with refugees and people traumatised by racism or war. We will end with performance poetry by Shagufta K and an act of remembrance led by the Chair of Bristol City of Sanctuary. The venue is wheelchair accessible; hearing loop and BSL interpreters on the day.
Attending gives people from across different communities with our richly different heritages and experiences a chance to come together, to reflect together, and to dedicate ourselves to positive action together. I hope you can join us.
