Yet again, it seems developers keen on building more blocks of flats for Bristol students could get away with the demolition of an unusual 'Bristol Byzantine' style Victorian chapel on a site that belonged to the old BRI. The Bishopston Society’s forthcoming public meeting on Tuesday 3rd October 2017 from 7pm – 9pm at Friends Meeting House is aiming high in aspiring towards a vision for clean air in Bishopston and beyond by the year 2020.
The Society is pushing forward a major initiative on self-help and community responses to local air quality with the help of a high-powered expert panel of guest speakers.

This latest scheme of the Mayor sounds a bit harebrained, albeit a potentially excellent idea for helping solve Bristol's car choked roads. But who knows? If the estimated £2.5 billion costs are found, it could become a reality. More on this story can be found here

The Bishopston Society’s arrangements for our next exciting public meeting, to be coupled with our 2017 Annual General Meeting, have now been finalised. Please make a diary note now: the meeting will take place on Tuesday 3rd October 2017 from 7 pm at the Friends Meeting House, 300, Gloucester Road.
The focus of the meeting (other than the traditional AGM formalities, which will only be brief) will be on the Clean Air Campaign which is now becoming a major issue with which TBS is involved.

For the past seven years I have been the Bishopston, Cotham and Redland Neighbourhood Partnership representative on the committee of The Bishopston Society (TBS). I have enjoyed it immensely and have been pleased to see TBS engaging in the local political landscape and working in a collaborative way with other local organisations and our councillors.
