Councillor Bev Knott threw doubts on the Localism Bill at the Bishopston Society Open Meeting on 4 April 4 2011 but spoke up for the Neighbourhood Partnerships, in which we are actively involved.

...the Neighbourhood Partnerships were making their presence felt, and Howzat? was generating enormous support for their concerns about the cricket ground development. And during the long winter months, anyone could organise a street party!

Well-known local historian David Cemlyn made a historic appeal as guest speaker to the Society meeting on 27 September 2010. He invited members to join a campaign to get the Horfield Police Station building granted listed status to protect it from the development he predicted would otherwise be inevitable.

The Bishopston Society again exhibited at St Bonaventures Fair on Sunday 11 July 2010. Visitors took an interest in the photos relating to developments in the Bishopston area, and interesting discussions about trade on the Gloucester Road took place.
The Spot the Location quiz was particularly popular.

Summer 2010
...the Gloucester Road had been designated a Cumulative Impact Area, which would transform the approach of the licensing authorities - or would it? Sainsburys made another approach to the Gloucester Road. And a new primary school was planned next to the cricket ground.

Over 40 people attended the Bishopston Society meeting on the 22 March 2010 at St Michael's Church Hall. The Chair mentioned that the website is now up and running and do let us know if you have any suggestions for articles/information you would like to see on the site. The meeting was largely taken up with a useful talk from two speakers, Councillor Neil Harrison
