We are concerned by the scale and style of the side extension proposed under this application and its effect on adjacent properties. The side extension in effect forms a three storey wall on the boundary line to 66-70 North Road, which sit in excess of 2m lower down. The effect will almost certainly be overbearing for the neighbouring properties.
We are not convinced by the boxy modernist style of the new extension with its timber cladding to the upper floor and its very plain front door. We have to say that the side extension actually spoils the appearance of what is an attractive period property. We have no objection to the kitchen extension which is only single storey and thus less obtrusive.
We recommend refusal for the side extension.
